Tashigang Dzong, far eastern Bhutan.   Derek & friend Karma in outer courtyard at sunset.

In Bhutan, we experienced some very unusual weather for Spring. The day
before the Tsechu in the valleys around where we are staying (in a monastery
guesthouse 16km east of Tashigang), there was a spectacular, long,
violent thunderstorm, with gale force winds causing serious property damage.

Here on Thumsing La (pass) (prayer flags mark the summit),
Sheila enjoyed making a mini chörten in the unseasonal snow.

Kurjey Lhakang in Bumthang, central Bhutan, one of the most sacred
temples in an area of many. The right-hand building houses a cave in
which Guru Rinpoche meditated, leaving his imprint in the rock. Above,
to the right, is a holy spring which appeared when the Guru smote the
hill with his staff, which then took root and grew into a large tree.
